FAQ Newborn Sessions

  1. When is the best time to schedule a newborn photography session?
It's best to schedule a session within the first two weeks of your baby's birth, ideally between 5 and 10 days old. This is when newborns are most sleepy and can be posed more easily.

  2. How long does a newborn photography session last?
A typical newborn session can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. This includes time for feeding, changing, and setting up different poses.

  3. What should my baby wear for the photo shoot?
Most newborn photography sessions involve using wraps, blankets, and other props to pose the baby. However, it's always a good idea to bring some basic clothing options such as onesies, diaper covers, or cute outfits that you'd like your baby to wear in some of the photos.

  4. What if my baby is fussy or doesn't cooperate during the session?
It's completely normal for babies to be fussy or uncooperative during a photo shoot. A professional newborn photographer will have plenty of tricks and techniques to soothe and calm your baby, and will also be patient and flexible throughout the session.

  5. Can I be in some of the photos with my baby?
Absolutely! Many parents want to be included in some of the photos with their newborn, and I will be happy to accommodate this request. Just let them know ahead of time so they can plan accordingly.

  6. How many photos can I expect to receive from the session?
The number of photos you'll receive depends on the package you choose and the length of the session. Typically, you can expect to receive between 20 and 50 high-quality digital images, but this can vary depending on the photographer and your preferences.

  7. Where will the photoshoot take place?
A lifestyle newborn session takes place in the client's home, and the focus is on capturing natural, candid moments of the baby and their family. I will typically use natural light and minimal props or backdrops. The result is a more relaxed and intimate style of photography that highlights the connection between the family members and the baby's environment.

  8. What is the difference between a newborn lifestyle session and a newborn studio session?
A newborn lifestyle session and a newborn studio session are two different approaches to newborn photography. Here's a brief overview of the key differences between the two:

-Location: A newborn lifestyle session is typically held in the family's home, while a newborn studio session takes place in a professional photography studio.

-Atmosphere: A newborn lifestyle session aims to capture natural and candid moments of the baby and the family in a relaxed and comfortable environment, while a newborn studio session focuses on posed portraits of the baby in a controlled and staged setting.

-Props: In a lifestyle session I will always bring a carry on bag filled with wraps, blankets and posing pillows. I may use some elements from home such as baskets. Studio sessions require a bean bag for more specific poses, baskets, headbands, more wraps ,etc.

-Timing: A newborn lifestyle session can be scheduled at any time after the baby is born, while a newborn studio session is best done within the first 7-10 days of the baby's life, when they are still very sleepy and can be more easily posed.

Ultimately, the choice between a newborn lifestyle session and a newborn studio session comes down to personal preference and the type of photos that you want to capture. Some families may prefer the natural and relaxed atmosphere of a lifestyle session, while others may prefer the more stylized and posed look of a studio session.
