Last week, I had the joy of photographing Chloe, Mac, and their beautiful children Alex and Leah at Bill Baggs State Park in Key Biscayne. They were visiting Miami from Boston and reached out to document a slice of their trip with a warm, beachside family session.

The morning greeted us with lots of sunshine and a strong ocean breeze—but the turquoise water and soft white sand made everything feel magical. We started early, when the light is soft and the beach still feels quiet and peaceful. Alex, who’s a year and a half old, had the time of his life playing in the sand and getting swung by mom and dad. Leah, just four months old, was calm and sweet throughout the session—until she reminded us it was time for a milk break, which gave everyone a chance to rest under the shade.

As I do in all my sessions, I encouraged Chloe and Mac to simply interact with their kids—snuggle them, play, and enjoy the moment. Yes, we took a few posed photos, but my absolute favorite images are always the candid ones. Real smiles. Real moments. Real connection. I love playing “peek-a-boo” with toddlers like Alex—it’s such a simple game, but it lights up their faces and gives me the most genuine reactions.

What I love about Bill Baggs State Park family photoshoots is that you get a little bit of everything—beach, lush green trails, shade when you need it, and the iconic white lighthouse standing tall in the background.

Fun fact: The Cape Florida Lighthouse, located inside the park, is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County, dating back to 1825. It’s a beautiful piece of local history and adds such a unique backdrop to any session.

I feel honored every time a family chooses me to capture their memories—especially when they’re just visiting and want to take home a little piece of Miami through my lens. Thank you, Chloe and Mac, for trusting me with this chapter of your story.
