I met Isabella when we both started our yoga teacher training. We connected quickly, same humor, same energy, focused when it matters but still keeping things light. This shoot wasn’t planned as anything deep, we just wanted to create beach portraits we could both use, something natural, something easy.
But sessions like this rarely stay “just that.”
We met in Key Biscayne for a beach photoshoot, around 10:45am. Not the best light, a bit windy, some sargassum here and there, and me… slightly struggling because I had tweaked my sciatica the day before in a yoga class. Nothing dramatic, just one of those “of course this would happen now” moments.
At some point I remember thinking, ok… just go with it. And that’s usually when things start working. Not because everything suddenly becomes perfect, but because you stop trying to make it perfect in the first place.
When women look into doing a session like this, it’s usually not random. There’s always something behind it, even if they don’t say it out loud. Some are looking to feel more confident, others want to reconnect with their body, and some are just curious to see a different version of themselves. And what ends up happening is that different energies start to come out naturally. Some women tap into a softer, more relaxed version of themselves, others lean into a more sensual, more expressive side. It’s not something you force, it’s something that shows up once you give it space.
What I’ve noticed, both from photographing women and from experiencing it myself, is that the shift doesn’t happen after you get the photos. It happens during the session, in real time. There’s a moment where you stop overthinking and you realize you actually feel good, comfortable, confident in your own skin without needing to fix anything first. That’s the part people don’t expect, and it’s usually what stays with you the most.
When women search for a Miami beach photoshoot or a Key Biscayne photoshoot, they’re not just looking for photos in a beautiful scenic or iconic place. They’re looking for an experience that helps them reconnect with themselves in a way that feels natural, not forced; And that doesn’t come from posing perfectly... It comes from being present enough to let things unfold.
That’s why sessions like this matter.
Not because of the final images, but because of what happens while you’re in it.
