This family session with Betty Williams — known on Instagram as @bettypastelitos — was exactly what I love about family photography in Miami: warm light, playful energy, and plenty of spontaneous moments.
We shot everything right at her home, under the shade of a mango tree in the garden. That’s where we began, placing a sofa right beneath its branches. It made the perfect backdrop to start things off with some cozy portraits of Betty and her three kids. But of course, with little ones, no session ever stays still for long.
Betty’s husband Josue also joined us for part of the shoot, and we were able to capture some beautiful, authentic moments of the whole family together. As a photographer, I always aim to deliver variety, and this session was full of it: candid laughs, quiet snuggles, and sweet solo portraits of each child.
Working with Betty was a dream. Her patience, grace, and joyful presence made everything feel easy. And honestly, that’s no surprise, she’s a teacher, after all. Her calm energy made it clear why she’s so loved in and out of the classroom.
This session reminded me why I love doing family photography in Miami. It’s about capturing the heart of a family in their real environment...just being together.
